Teaching

I have been a consulting geologist for the last 8 years and my teaching focuses on helping students apply the skills that they have learned during their academic careers to projects similar to what they may encounter in their professional careers.

Research

I am a licensed professional geologist in California specializing in integrated water management. This ranges from stream and habitat restoration to drinking water solutions for disadvantaged communities. My work includes assessing groundwater storage and availability, water quality for various uses, soil and groundwater contamination, and resiliency and sustainability planning. This requires both desktop-based evaluation as well as field investigations. This allows me to work with and assist cities, counties, and service districts as they evaluate how to best provide sustainable water services to their communities. My work is highly multidisciplinary, and I am continuously working on teams that include engineers, geologists, environmental planners, biologists, and spatial analysts. I enjoy my career in geology because it has allowed me to work on a variety of projects and engage with people and geology across the Pacific Northwest.
